The Storm with No Name

Last August, when America's attention was focused on the conventions, a cyclone dropped more than 6.9 trillion gallons of water on Louisiana, flooding ten rivers and filling over 150,000 homes with muddy waters--some over ten feet deep. More than 200,000 men, women and children were driven from their homes. Most homes have yet to be restored. Please consider joining Pastor Clint from Knox and our sister churches First Presbyterian of Elmhurst and First Presbyterian Church of Beaufort, SC (the church home of Jeneane Ryan) on a mission of love and restoration through PCUSA's Presbyterian Disaster Assistance Program and the Presbytery of South Louisiana.

Working with Christina Huff Drake (from our previous Katrina missions with NOLA's Project Homecoming),  Knox volunteers will fly out of Midway on Sunday afternoon April 30th and return to Chicago on Saturday May 6th.  Total cost per person for round trip tickets, ground transportation and a week's food and lodging has been capped at $500. Mission stipends are available to cover all or part of this expense--just speak to Pastor Clint.

At this time, only ten bunks are still available at University Presbyterian Church in Baton Rouge--our home for the week.  Bedding and laundry care is provided.  On Friday--our last day--we will drive back to New Orleans for a tour of the City and supper out, staying overnight in Jefferson Parish.

Please speak with Pastor Clint (630-615-4304) or contact Knox if you are interested in serving.  "They shall repair the ruined cities,

the devastations of many generations."   -Isaiah 61:4
