Kids Ministries

We exist to care for children, encourage the youth, and equip the next generation by pointing out the sacred in the midst of the chaos of life and walking faithfully with young people as they transition from child to young adult. Knox strives to walk with young people on their journey, recognizing their gifts for ministry, their questions about spirituality, and their desire to make a difference in the world.

Wednesday Nights

Acolytes & Worship Readers
Children starting in the third grade are welcome to be both acolytes and scripture readers during worship. The job of the acolyte is to light the candles in the sanctuary prior to the 9 am service. Children just need to arrive a few minutes early and grown-up instruction and guidance is provided. As a scripture reader during worship, the children will be provided with their scripture during the week leading up to the service they are expected to read at. Children are expected to practice their scripture after receiving it and to arrive early to the worship service.

Godly Play
Children who attend the Saturdays @ 5:00 pm worship service will begin worship with their parents. They will then have the opportunity to move to a worship space with sacred story boxes where they will continue in prayer, song, and response to God’s message. A sensory motor style of storytelling is used, and children learn the language of worship and theology. They experience the awe and wonder of God’s stories and of God’s presence as they participate in a worship service where we together reflect on the mystery of God.

Middle School Fellowship
Middle School Ministry’s mission at Knox is to create a place where middle school students belong, to give them time and space to wrestle with what they believe, and to witness them become lifelong followers of Jesus Christ.

We do this by offering a variety of fun, meaningful activities where students can connect with one another and with spiritually mature adults.

High School

Go and Serve
Every summer, the youth of Knox load into vans and head out for a week-long service project somewhere in the Midwest, along with an army of adults and young adults. The location changes, along with the work, from Sisseton South Dakota to Alma Michigan, but the heart of the week remains the same: to be the hands and feet of Christ in service to the community in a time of need. Click here for this years registration.

Wednesday Night Fellowship
Every Wednesday night during the school year, all High School students are invited to gather in the basement for dinner from 6-6:30, followed by an hour of fellowship, 6:30-7:30. This hour of fellowship includes large and small group discussions, games, activities, worship, prayer, and missions.
Check the calendar for dates and times.

Sunday Night Bible Study
Sunday night from 7 to 8:30 pm, all high school students are invited to the basement for an hour and a half of worship, conversation, and study of the Scriptures. At the beginning of the year, the high schoolers create a list of topics that become the basis of discussion throughout the year.
Check the calendar for dates and times.

Special Events
Throughout the year we have a number of special events. These range from bonfires to Late Nights, and High Ropes Courses to Broom Hockey. Most of these events require registration, which is available on the Knox Calendar.

Message from the Team

Thank you for entrusting your children to us. It was Jesus who first welcomed children, setting them as an example for all believers, and we have made ministering to children central to the work of our church. We believe and practice what is said in Proverbs 22:6, “Train up a child in the way he should go; and when he is old, he will not depart from it.” We look forward to working with your children throughout their years here at Knox.
