We Believe

As a congregation, Knox affirms what the church in all ages and places has proclaimed as a foundation of the Christian faith:

The Apostles' Creed
I believe in God, the Father Almighty, Maker of heaven and earth, And in Jesus Christ His only Son our Lord; Who was conceived by the Holy Ghost, born of the Virgin Mary, suffered under Pontius Pilate, was crucified, dead, and buried; He descended into hell; the third day He rose again from the dead; He ascended into heaven, and sitteth on the right hand of God the Father Almighty; from thence He shall come to judge the quick and the dead. I believe in the Holy Ghost; the holy catholic church; the communion of saints; the forgiveness of sins; the resurrection of the body; and the life everlasting.
Knox belongs to the Presbyterian Church (USA), a denomination which has approximately 2 million members and 10,000 congregations nationwide. Presbyterians trace their history to the 16th century Protestant Reformation and are part of the Reformed tradition. The Reformed tradition celebrates that we are “formed and always being reformed by the Word of God.” In other words, we believe that God will constantly be speaking to us through the Bible, guiding us to deeper truths to understand and better ways to live.

We are instructed in our life of faith by The Book of Confessions, a compilation of creeds and historical statements about what we believe and how we are to live. The Reformed tradition affords room for a broad spectrum of people and perspectives under the lordship of Jesus Christ.

Our Vision

Core Values

Lives are changed by Jesus.

We follow the living Christ, and our lives are different because we know him. In all we do, we want to put Jesus at the center, and share him with others.

We’re together in highs and lows.

We are authentic and vulnerable with one another, showing up as our real imperfect selves. We celebrate in good times and show up in hard times with prayer, caring, and support.

We take fun seriously.

Doing church’ and ‘having a good time’ are not mutually exclusive! Laughter, joy, and good clean fun are an essential part of our life together. We take Jesus seriously, and ourselves less so.

Kids grow here.

We believe that passing the Christian faith onto the next generation is crucial. We welcome and support families of all kinds to help kids of all ages build a faith that lasts.

Service is hands-on.

We express our faith by serving others—rolling up our sleeves and getting our hands dirty. When there is a need, we want to respond like Isaiah did: ‘here I am, send me!’

We cultivate curiosity.

We recognize that following Jesus is a lifelong process of engaging with scripture and pursuing God in a community of faith.
