Classes

Verbum
Verbum is a 14-week course offering a deep dive into the New Testament in the context of prayer, fellowship, and community.
Questions? Contact Pastor David Bruner for details.
"The Biblical Case for LGBTQ+ Inclusion"
From the six biblical passages that refer to same-sex behavior to broader themes in Scripture about marriage, celibacy, sexual ethics, and the roles of men and women, this course carefully lays the groundwork for how Christians can both affirm the authority of the Bible and affirm their LGBTQ+ friends and loved ones.

This course will be open to and appropriate for high school students and older.
To sign up please contact Stephanie Hild at shild@knoxpres.org

Course Dates/Time/Location:
Sunday evenings, October 13-November 10 (5 weeks)
6:00-7:30pm in Lehman Hall

Course concept: This course will utilize a “flipped classroom” model of teaching, inviting participants to engage in two ways:

  1. Purchase access to The Reformation Project’s online video course “The Biblical Case for LGBTQ Inclusion” for viewing/listening at home.
(Prior to the class beginning, you will receive an email from The Reformation Project, giving you access to their online course materials.)
  2. Attend our weekly Sunday night gatherings for personal and communal reflection, hearing stories from local members of the LGBTQ+ community and their allies
(Schedule of speakers to be made available prior to class beginning)

You may opt in to access videos at home without attending the in-person classes if you choose, but the in-person times will greatly enhance the experience.
(Due to the sensitive nature of the conversations that will be taking place at the in-person gatherings, that content will not be recorded or available online.)

Course facilitator: Leslie Clark: certified Reformation Project “Ambassador”

Course Cost: $50 per person,
(Includes access to all videos and workbook, as well as defraying cost of course facilitator and guest speakers)
