Hall of Famers Lunch - Thursday, October 10

“Who was Betsey Stockton?”  c.1798-1865

Betsey Stockton was born into slavery and emerged as a religious and academic pioneer.  As the first single woman missionary from North America, she was instrumental in bringing formal education to indigenous Hawaiians and Native Americans and in establishing numerous schools.

Come and listen to Knox Member, June Chapek, tell us how her own family was involved in the founding of Princeton University, the Revolutionary War and in sending one of the first missionaries to the Hawaiian Island.

  • Come join us for worship in the chapel at 11:30 am and lunch at noon.
  • Cost: $8
  • Please call: Diane Heintz at 630.615.4324 by Monday, October 7 for reservations.
