Heartland is continually trying to meet current demands. That is the reason why Knox and countless other churches and organizations are asked to participate in regular blood drives. Heartland generally attempts to collect nearly 400 units of blood every day to meet the needs of the Chicagoland hospitals it serves. The blood products collected at our drives are used for the everyday patient. That is, grandparents, parents and children, who need the blood products derived from these drives for surgery and treatment.
If you cannot give blood, there are other ways of getting involved in the drive. First, you can recommend the Knox blood drive to eligible family members and friends. Also, there is a need for volunteers to help make this drive possible. So, whether you can give blood or not, you can participate by helping to sign donors up before the drive or work on the day of the drive.
There will be blood donor sign up sheets in the Commons and there is also online sign-up possible at www.heartlandbc.org and link through "find a blood drive" or sign up in the Commons. Call or email Neil Goltermann (630-750- 5863; with any questions.
