Please arrive by 7:00 pm. Hand-pack bags of life-saving meals which are shipped to people who need them most. Sign up before October 8th.

YMEN/DELTA - Chicago, 9:00 am - 2:00 pm (times on site)
The Knox Serves team will have several unique opportunities to work with YMEN on different projects at several of their facilities in the North Lawndale neighborhood. Projects such as light finishing work at the newly rehabilitated cafe building across the street, clean up work at the adjacent church building YMEN is acquiring for future development and the Garden to Table pipeline sites are being planning by the YMEN directors. Please meet at Knox at 8:00 am for the carpools or you can drive yourself and meet us at the main YMEN Center at 1241 S. Pulaski in Chicago at 9:00 am. Lunch will be provided. Work will finish at 2:00 pm and carpools will return to Knox approx. 3:00 pm.

Landscape clean-up at north end of new shelter (similar to last year, but only a couple sections). Clean up, lay barrier fabric, and cover 150 sq ft area at old shelter with rubber mulch.

Assemble “Hygiene Goodie Bags” for distribution to the children we see at churches in Honduras during one of our trips and add a little note to each bag.

Packing of meal bags for distribution at Loaves & Fishes. This will be an assembly line process and is suitable for either sitting or standing. We need a few mobile volunteers to lift lightweight boxes (no more than 15-20 pounds) to resupply the packing tables.

Seated activity. Write thank you letters/cards; children can color pages for "comfort and care packages" for soldiers stationed overseas.

Seated activity. Coloring placemats to take to our congregants in the surrounding retirement homes and/or homebound members. This is open to adults and children of all ages. The placemats will be delivered at later dates by other Knox congregants.

CROP Hunger Walk -Grace UMC-Naperville, 1:00 pm-3:00 pm
Join Team Knox for a 1K or 5K walk supporting local and global hunger-relief efforts. Participants raise money benefiting Loaves & Fishes, Northern Illinois Food Bank and programs worldwide. Following the walk, participants will also have the opportunity to assemble Easy Meals for Loaves & Fishes at Grace UMC.
